Summer Reading Program- 2009
Be Creative @ Your Library
Open to Pre-Schoolers, Home Schoolers, Students in Grades K-5

REGISTRATION:

Beginning, Tuesday - May 25, 2009 boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 12 can begin to register for the "Be Creative @ Your Library" Summer Reading Program at the Monessen Public Library. Children, aged 2 through Kindergarten and entering 1st grade will participate in the READ TO ME Program. Children who have completed 1st grade through grade 5 will participate in the SUMMER READING CLUB and will read on their own. You may register online by following this link.


Incentives


Reading logs:

Prizes given when child visits the library

1-5 books: one prize
6-10 books: two prizes
11-15 books: three prizes
16+books: four prizes

Attendance at library Events:

To be handed out at final party

1-2 events: one prize
3-4 events: two prizes
5+ events: three prizes

Extra Prizes:

To be given when item is completed

Listen to story on tape: one prize
Listen to music on a CD: one prize
Do a handout sheet: one prize
Color a coloring sheet: one prize
Draw a picture for the library: one prize
Check out 5 books from the library: two prizes


Toddler Story Hour 

Mondays/Tuesdays @ the Library

Ages: Preschool-K

Time: 11:00-11:30am

Dates: June 15,16,22,29 & July 6, 7, 20&27

This story time will be held in the children’s area at the library. Enjoy fun music, creative activities and great stories.

Tuesdays @ the Park

Ages: Preschool –K

Time: 11:00-11:30am

Dates: June 23, 30 & July 21, 28

This story time will be at the Monessen City Park Gazebo. Come for the story time and stay for play time. We will meet at the park! (parent or guardian must be present)

(Note: no Story times or activites during the week of July 13-19th)


Imagine, Create, Participate

Fridays @ the Library

Ages: Grade 1-3rd

Time: 10:30-11:00am

Dates: June 19, 26, July 3, 24, 31

Be Creative @ Stations is a 1 hour session for school age children. At each station a child will learn a lesson and crafts that goes with that lesson. They will rotate to another station until time is up. This makes learning about artists, musicians and puppetry more interesting

 ** Volunteers needed**

Final Program: July 30 at 6:00pm:  Food, Prizes and entertainment.
