Governor's Advisory Council on Library Development

The Governor's Advisory Council on Library Development page is now available at the Office of Commonwealth Libraries' website. This page contains a listing of Council members, approved meeting minutes, and a tentative agenda for upcoming meetings. This page will be used to post activity of the Council.

The Governor's Advisory Council on Library Development, established by the Library Code, offers advice and recommendations to the Governor, the Secretary of Education and the State Librarian in areas relating to general policies and operations of the State Library and the Commonwealth's library program. Council members represent library trustees, librarians and lay advocates.

This site offers one-stop access to government resources that support after school programs. The site is designed for anyone who cares about kids 6 to18. You can find information to help you understand the issues that face kids and teens or fund, start and operate an after school program. You don't even need to know which Federal agency has the information you need-- afterschool.gov searched the sites for the information requested most often and put it in easy to use categories. Research studies, news and publications are added as they are released to keep you up to date on what is happening in the field of after school programs.

The site is supported and housed by the General Services Administration.

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) can help you:

  •  Locate sources of funding available to librarians.
  •  Find information on proposal writing skills and articles on funding.
  •  Use DOCLINE, the National Library of Medicine's automated interlibrary loan request and referral system for health science libraries.
  •  Search NLM databases using MEDLINEplus or PubMed.
  • Find classes for librarians and health information specialists to take, and training materials that you can use when teaching.
